During the summer, families flock to the nearest amusement parks and water slides looking for a day of entertainment. When our family goes on one of these excursions, we experience long lines, stomach aches, water in our shoes and sheer exhaustion. What a fun way to spend a day! As a child, I was lucky enough to have the Kiddie Park. Built in 1947, this 15 ride amusement park was designed for toddlers, preschoolers and elementary age children. It is currently maintained by local volunteers and civic groups and still going strong in spite of recent flooding. Snow cones, the white horse on the carousel and the train were all things I remember and have been able to share with my own kids. Although rides used to cost a nickel, they are still a bargain at a quarter. No long lines, water in your shoes or exhaustion. As far as the stomach aches, well....the cotton candy is amazing! The Kiddie Park is a wonderful gem in Oklahoma's Green Country.
